Computer-aided argument mapping (CAAM) is a relatively recent innovation that promises to assist in the teaching of critical thinking skills. Also new is a specialized form of mapping-argument mapping-dedicated to displaying inferential connections among propositions.

What is new is a variety of software packages that permit more complex forms of map-making. Mind mapping and concept mapping are both routinely used in higher education contexts. To avoid the overload of the pupils when additional study subjects will be implemented in the learning process and to ensure its successful completion based on secondary school's experience authors propose to use mind maps and knowledge visualization tools in the learning process. Authors of this paper propose that such additional subjects should be computer networks, databases, programming basics and systemology. Therefore, it is desirable to introduce a few additional ICT subjects to professionally oriented schools.

Based on the carried out analysis of shortcomings in Latvian secondary schools conclusions are made that the present school curriculum is lagging behind the technology used in an everyday life and that there is a lack of understanding of the students of new technology capabilities. Taking into account the need to realize Latvian National Development Plan 2014-2020 in the near future, it is necessary to implement additional advanced study subjects in fields of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). that is necessary to introduce in Latvia. There will be opportunities to use clear concepts discussions and compare different options using the card, to effectively address various problems, for example, human security curriculum in schools, household and business planning, etc. It will provide a clear interpretation and purposeful application of the knowledge and methods of cooperation, and the ease of use of practical actions in the field of industries, including the mainstreaming of 'human security with SWOT (strengths, weakness, opportunities, threats) analysis and systems thinking. Given the use of extensive practical experience of western countries, these methods and tools may be effectively used in targeted areas of activity, such as life management, knowledge and cooperation organisation, business, education improvement, brainstorming, government, as well as local government sectors in Latvia. The purpose of this article is to give analyse and survey of the status quo of visual interpretation techniques and knowledge mapping usage in the world and their perspective and the need to use such techniques in Latvia.
